    Property description

Despite only having one bedroom, this Notting Hill apartment can fit four people thanks to a double sofa bed in the living room. In the master bedroom, guests will benefit from a queen-sized bed and the apartment also has everything you could ever want or need as a visitor.

Based on the first floor of the building, this is actually in a quiet neighbourhood of London but a short tube trip or walk will take you into the more active areas if required. Overlooking a stunning tree-lined traditional London street, you will have a terrace beyond the high ceilings of the flat. In the kitchen, you can use a dishwasher and a washer/dryer whilst the living room offers an LG Smart TV for those relaxing moments.

In the bathroom, you have the choice of a bath or shower and your mobile phones, tablets, or laptop will have free access to WiFi which is always a bonus with the technological demands we have these days. Overall, it will act as a brilliant base for your stay in London and your location means that you aren't far from all the action

Where? - Since the flat is in Pembridge Gardens, this means you are around two minutes from the tube station at Notting Hill Gate. If you have never used the tube station in London before, this essentially means you will have access to near enough the whole city (you may require line switches for some locations). If you’re interested in the tourist destinations London has to offer, you will be in a prime location with this Notting Hill apartment. Not only because of what we have suggested so far, but also because you will be close to Hyde Park, Portobello Road, and Kensington Gardens

These days, Notting Hill is a fantastic place to stay because you will be in close proximity to restaurants, shops, pubs, cafes, and a whole lot more. For this flat in particular, a short walk will take you to a local Marks & Spencer, a 24-hour Crispin’s, or the flagship Marble Arch store

In terms of food, London has options all over the city and it doesn’t take long to see this when visiting. As well as the standard fast food restaurants such as KFC and McDonald’s, Notting Hill also boasts classic English restaurants and food from all over the world. For example, just round the corner is The Ark which serves Italian which, itself, is close to Sally Clarke’s which offers a divine Californian-style menu.

Overall, this is a brilliant apartment for your stay both for location and for the amenities and generous accommodation itself.

Pembridge Gardens is a classical terrace only 2 minutes walk from Notting Hill Gate tube station. Very conveniently located for access to all tourist spots. Also very close to Portobello Road, Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park.

Notting Hill Gate is home to a variety of stores, restaurants, cafés and estate agents as well as more specialist stores which include rare records and antiques, as well as two historic cinemas, the Coronet (originally opened as a theatre in 1898) and The Gate, as well as also several bars and clubs. It is the location of the legendary Record and Tape Exchange shops (now Music and Video) presided over by multi-millionaire eccentric Brian Abrams.

here are three supermarkets within easy walking distance and a smalle convenience store, Crispin's, even closer. It's open 24 hours, but more expensive as a result.

The food halls at Marks and Spencer have superb prepared dishes and your apartment will have a microwave oven. The largest selection is at the flagship Marble Arch store on the north side of Oxford Street between Marble Arch and Bond Street tube stations. However, there is another store adjacent to the tube station at Kensington High Street (one stop away on the District or Circle lines). The tube station adjoins the store. There is a small M & S on Notting Hill Gate – about 300 yards walk past the underground station to the west. This is the nearest and sells a good range of ready meals, baked produce, salads and wines.
Next to Sally Clarke's restaurant at 124 KCS is their bakery which opens at 8:00 (9:00 Saturdays). The breads are fresh and inventive. Also to be had are cheeses, shortbreads, oatmeal biscuits, and the finest chocolate truffles in all of London. They make up small gift boxes.

RESTAURANTS--all within easy walking distance of the flats
The Kensington Wine Rooms (127/129 KCS) for an aperitif, excellent wine by the glass, and a dining room for dinner.
The Ark, 122 Palace Gardens Terrace, just behind the apartment block. Lovely Italian style food in luxurious surroundings. Bookings recommended.
Sally Clarke's, 124 KCS, 7221-9225: California nouvelle cuisine, limited choice menus, expensive and exclusive – very good food. The week's menu is posted at the door. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Light bites in the basement of her bakery next door. Delicious.
Geale's, 2 Farmer St., 7727-7969. Fine fish and chips. Sit down or take out. No reservations taken but there is a bar upstairs to enjoy while you wait. Recommended.
Kensington Place, 205 KCS: Very trendy, designer food and noisy. Always crowded. Popular with the media crowd.(7727-3184) Open Sundays. Make reservations. Good dish of the Day. Bring megaphone!

Brunch or lunch or tea at The Orangery. It's in Kensington Gardens behind the Palace. near the entrance to the museums. Very airy, very English. Clotted cream, scones and cucumber sandwiches in an historic setting. Unmissable.
Black and Blue just opposite the front door and slightly to the left – very good for steaks (organic meat) soups, enormous salads and good ground beef burgers. All day breakfast – huge. Good wine by the glass or bottle. Very popular – get there early to grab a comfortable booth. Noisy later in the evening. You might need that megaphone.

There is a Kentucky Fried Chicken and a MacDonald's on the north side of NHGR all within a block of the KCS intersection. Pizza Express is 300 meters away.

    PUBS
The Old Swan, downstairs, and The Churchill Arms. Food at lunch only. Thai food at the Churchill very cheap and popular so get there early.

    ANTIQUES
There are over 40 separate stores on KCS ranging from general antiques to specialties such as chandeliers, pottery, mirrors, or clocks.
Kensington Church Street is famous for its antique shops and knowledgeable owners who will be delighted to chat about their particular speciality.

On Saturday morning, there is Portobello Road Market. –Think Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts in Notting Hill, the Movie. Just follow the signs and the crowds coming out of the tube station. Portobello is an outside/inside street fair/flea market/antique show/farmer's market/swap meet extraordinaire. Pickpockets also love Portobello Road. There is an upscale arcade called Admiral Vernon (#139) at the near end. There is a hole in the back of #129 selling classic cashmeres (no fancy patterns). There are specialists here too, in samplers, fountain pens, fishing gear, golf-related items, watches, magnifying glasses, buttons, fossils (fakes, too), and silver. This market is justifiably famous and HUGE. Hours can go by just routing around. There is always somewhere nice and/or trendy nearby for a coffee and sandwich.

    OTHER NEIGHBORHOOD SHOPPING AND SERVICES
There is a dry cleaner nearby which takes only one day (four hours in an emergency) and shirts take a day. Another new Laundromat has opened along Notting Hill Gate to the west past the tube station – near the end of the row of shops opposite Marks and Spencers. They also do a service wash. A new service wash and dry cleaners has just opened two doors down from 202 Apartments offering same day service washes. This is very convenient for guests and makes the whole laundry business a breeze.

For children there is the wide open space of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park about 200 meters from the apartment . There are swans, squirrels and ducks to feed and a Peter Pan themed playground right by the nearest gate to the apartments. The museums in South Kensington are just to the south of the park and are free to enter. Children love the Science Museum – little ones are catered for on the basement level with a great playspace, and the Natural History Museum for the dinosaurs and much, much more. They can be kept busy all day. They usually dislike shopping so plan for them in advance. Don't forget London Zoo in Regents Park and a little friendly Zoo in Battersea Park.

    MONEY MATTERS
There are a number of banks nearby but the closest is a branch of Barclays Bank. Travelers' cheques convert at a more favorable rate than cash. If you buy Barclays Bank travelers' cheques as sold by many American savings and loans, you can cash them at any Barclays Bank without paying a commission. Bank hours are 9:30am to 5:00pm.
The conversion rate used by VISA is reasonable and the card is readily accepted most everywhere. You will need to tell your credit card company in advance that you are coming to UK or they may refuse to honour charges here.

    THEATRE
Time Out, or What's On, weekly magazines appearing every Wednesday list walking tours, gallery showings, lectures, fairs, cinema, theater, events and TV. The cheapest seats are directly from the theatre. You can telephone, charge and pick up at the theatre box office before the performance. Take your credit card with you. For several theatre engagements, call First Call. (The Ivy is the best restaurant in the West End theater district. Book well in advance. 7836-4751) Try not to stare at all the celebrities eating in there. Half Price tickets on the day of the performance sold at the Half Price Ticket Booth in Leicester Square. (be sure they are really half price before you part with your cash!!) Our manager Leonard is an expert on all matters theatrical.
The National Theatre, near Waterloo Station, on the South Bank of the Thames can also be reached by walking over the Bridge near Embankment Tube Station. There are three theatres from intimate to large and shows appear in repertory. The Mezzanine Restaurant at the theater complex serves delicious meals and accommodates the various curtain times. Seniors get discounts. It has a bar too and is very stylish. The views are stunning from there and it's worth going just for these.
The National Film Theatre and the Royal Festival Hall, for concerts, are also situated at the South Bank complex. Family tickets offer savings as do seniors.
